In the second half of the 18th century, archeologists excavated the ruins of Pompeii. As a result, art and culture of Antiquity inspired a Neoclassical style in architecture, interior decoration and of course furniture. The Louis XVI style displays straight and symmetrical lines and also classical decorative motifs. Motifs are for example: acanthus leaves, friezes of pearls, Greek friezes…
