1930s FRENCH BENCH TWIST LEGS
1930s French Bench twist legs. A design of Jean-Michel Frank inspired us to recreate this bench. Our team has fabricated the frame in solid Beechwood with turned twist-shaped legs. A painting finish together with a hand-patina and final wax have then been applied. Vosges has further upholstered the bench in white and covered both seat and back with COM. We also used a set of beautiful stone marten pelts for the making of an extra removable fur slip cover.
Born in 1895, Jean-Michel Frank was a French Art Deco interior designer. Frank gained prominence in the 1920s and 1930s, working with prestigious clients such as Nelson Rockefeller and Elsa Schiaparelli. His interiors often featured neutral color palettes, clean lines, and exotic materials like shagreen, parchment, and straw marquetry. He collaborated with renowned artists and designers, including Salvador Dalí and Alberto Giacometti, creating furniture that blended surrealism with modernist simplicity. Frank created a unique collection of home furnishing for Hermès in the 1920s. Leading designers recognize today Frank as one of the greatest sources of inspiration to many present-day designs.
