Jacob Desmalter supplied furniture to the Emperor Napoleon for the Chateau de Compiegne, the Tuileries Palace and other imperial residences in France and Europe. Built by Louis XV and Louis XVI, the Chateau de Compiègne was later remodeled under Napoleon I and Napoleon III. It was a key center of court life and political power. The chateau’s neoclassical design, stunning interiors, and fine furnishings create a unique and remarkable ensemble. Along with Versailles and Fontainebleau, it is one of the three most important royal and imperial residences in France.
