Paul Dupré-Lafon was a master of understated luxury, often referred to as the “interior architect of power and discretion.” Active during the height of the Art Deco period, he brought a modern rigor to classical elegance. His interiors were tailored like fine suits, masculine, and impeccably detailed. Dupré-Lafon favored noble woods like mahogany and sycamore, often paired with parchment, leather, or patinated metals to create a quiet tension between materials. He designed entire environments, including furniture, lighting, and bespoke accessories. His long-standing collaboration with Hermès blurred the line between functional object and art piece, producing refined desk sets, smoking tables, and even saddlery inspired furnishings.
