Paul Dupre Lafon was a French Art Deco designer and architect. Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, he consistently paired darkened mahogany with brass trim and leather-covered tops. Often described as the “decorator of millionaires,” he furthermore combined streamlined forms with exotic woods, leather, and bronze. Originally trained as a painter, he nonetheless deliberately refused to exhibit his work in expositions and salons, thereby keeping his clientele exclusive and his pieces exceptionally rare.
