Scandinavian design champions simplicity, minimalism, and functionality. Emerging in the early 20th century, it flourished in the 1950s across the five Nordic countries Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland. Known for their innovative approach to household goods like furniture, textiles, ceramics, lamps, and glass, Scandinavian designers dominated global design from the 1930s to the 1970s.

Visionaries like Poul Henningsen (1894–1967), Alvar Aalto (1898–1976), and Hans J. Wegner (1914–2007) left an enduring legacy. Their designs, rooted in practicality and elegance, continue to influence modern aesthetics. Although the movement faded from prominence for a time, it has roared back to life. A new generation of designers and publishers has revitalized Scandinavian design, honoring its classic principles while reimagining it for the modern era.
